Hair Removal Options: Thermolysis, Electrolysis Or Blend?

You would like to have permanent hair removal. Who wouldn’t? But, there are several methods that you can go about getting it, for the most part. While no method can guarantee 100% effectiveness, most of them can do a good deal to help you. When it comes to choosing, you’ll need to examine your budget, your need for pain as well as your research facts. Here are some of your options specifically electrolysis, thermolysis or a blend. Electrolysis In this permanent hair removal technique, the hair is removed directly from the hair follicle. And, in this method, the follicle is destroyed so that the hair can not re-grow. A probe is used and inserted in each and every follicle. The probe uses electrical current to cause a chemical reaction which will then loosen the hair so it can be removed. In fact, it causes a chemical reaction that will change the follicle to lye, a product that will damage it enough to cause permanent hair removal. But, the process takes quite a bit of time since each follicle has to be dealt with individually. This makes it very expensive too. In some cases, you’ll need more than one treatment. Option Two: Thermolysis Here, you get the same basic steps but the difference is heat. The process creates heat which will then destroy the follicle. This of course stops the growth of hair. But, if this procedure is done wrong, you can experience more than just the pain you’ll get from either of these treatments, but also scarring and burning. Although it is faster, thermolysis is not as effective. Combine Them: The Blend Growing in popularity is the blend method of hair removal. Here, the hair is removed through a quick version of electrolysis. Heat is used, though, which means that while the lye is produced and destroys the follicle, the heat makes it happen faster. And, what makes it even more attractive is the fact that it basically works on all types of hair. The blend method is faster, but still costly and painful. Which To Choose? It is up to you which method you use for your permanent hair removal. Make sure to visit a skilled professional to do it so that you get a sterilized location with an individual who knows what they are doing as this can make all of the difference. You lower your risks and get a better result when you go with experience.

Hair Removal Options - Permanent and Temporary
Filed under: permanent hair removal — steve @ 5:45 pm

Many consider the removal of unwanted hair to be merely a cosmetic concern. However, the effects of having unwanted or unsightly facial or body hair can result in far reaching emotional and/or social problems. Here we will look at several different methods of hair removal, both temporary and permanent.
Hair can be removed temporarily by either depilation or epilation. Depilation removes the hair above the skin’s surface, whereas epilation removes the entire hair including that which is below the skin’s surface.
The most notable methods of depilation are shaving, depilatories and friction. Shaving is done manually with either a manual razor or electric shaver. Depilatories are creams or lotions which dissolve hair through the use of chemicals. Friction uses a rough surfaced tool to buff hair off of the skin.
Epilation is longer lasting than depilation and can last anywhere from a few days to several weeks. Epilation is done by tweezing, waxing, sugaring, threading or rotary epilators. Tweezing is performed manually and consists of pulling individual hairs out by the root. In waxing, a layer of either hot or cold wax is applied to the skin and then quickly pulled off with strips of cloth. Sugaring is similar to waxing, but uses a “sugary”, sticky substance instead of wax. Threading is a method of removing hair by using a twisted thread which catches hairs as it is rolled back and forth on the skin. Rotary epilators are implements which grab hairs and pull them out by the roots. Rotary epilators are often electric or battery-powered and are more efficient than tweezers because they remove many hairs at a time.
In searching for more permanent hair removal, there are several options which have varying degrees of success. There are a number of methods available which use chemicals, electricity or both.
The most highly regarded of these permanent methods is electrolysis. It is the most “permanent” of all the methods when executed properly. A hair-thin metal probe is inserted into the hair follicle without puncturing the skin. Then an electric pulse is sent through the probe to the follicle, which in effect kills the follicle so that it can no longer produce hair.
The next most successful method of hair removal is done with lasers. While some people have reported permanent hair reduction, there isn’t much known about how long the reduction typically lasts or how often the reduction truly is permanent.
In laser hair removal or reduction, a specific wavelength of light is transferred from a hand-held wand into the skin. The dark pigment in the hair attracts the laser light. This causes damage to the hair follicle so that new hair growth is diminished or non-existent. There is no damage to the surrounding skin. Dark hair seems to have the higher success rate in removal. Lighter hair does not have as much pigment to attract the light.
There are also various methods of restricting hair growth through the use of prescription medications. These methods need to be discussed with a physician and most require a doctor’s prescription. There are a variety of oral medications as well as topical medications which can be used with varying degrees of success in eliminating unwanted hair.
If a person chooses the more permanent routes of electrolysis or laser treatment, he or she should spend some time researching the availability of each in their area. They should then contact several different clinics and gather as much information as possible. It is always a good idea to check out the office or clinic for cleanliness of the establishment and staff. The staff should be friendly and welcome questions.
Ask for rates and payment options. Get a written copy of any guarantee the clinic may make in regards to results and always get a copy of your consultation form. Visit several places offering either electrolysis or laser before making your decision. Doctors are essentially salespeople, too, and they want your business. Make sure you are familiar and comfortable with everything involved before going forward with your treatment.

Hair Removal Methods That Have Come and Gone: Electronic Tweezers
Filed under: permanent hair removal — steve @ 5:15 pm
by: Ronni Kolotkin
Shortly after I became an Electrologist, a new method of permanent hair removal called “Depilatron” appeared on the market and attempted to make electrolysis a thing of the past. Depilatron consisted of a machine with an electronic tweezer attached to it. Its inventors claimed that grasping the hair with the tweezer would send a current through the hair, down into the hair follicle, thereby killing the root of the hair and removing the hair permanently. Sounds promising, doesn’t it?
Many people desperate to get rid of their unwanted hair believed the ads that promised permanent hair removal. Unfortunately, the inventors of Depilatron did not test their theory before releasing it to the public. The truth is: hair cannot conduct electric current, so Depilatron could not possible be a method of permanent hair removal! In a matter of months, it became clear that this new hair removal treatment was a scam. People who paid for Depilatron treatments threw a ton of money in the garbage and ended up being extremely disappointed.
One of my clients who had undergone some Depilatron treatments before coming to me for electrolysis was so enraged that she showed up at the fancy Madison Avenue Salon in New York City and stood at the front desk threatening to make a huge scene if her money wasn’t refunded to her immediately. She was lucky enough to receive a refund! After many years of being one of the top salons in the country, that salon closed its doors forever!
Occasionally, I still see some advertisements promising permanent hair removal through an electronic tweezer method. Another unsuccessful treatment was called “Removatron.” These treatments always promise “pain free permanent hair removal.” This is a perfect market for scams to keep popping up because these companies make their money fast and run for the hills, preying on people who are looking for a quick fix for their unwanted hair.
You may be tempted to try these methods of hair removal because they remove hair quickly. I urge you not to be fooled by hair removal methods that make promises that seem too good to be true. There is no quick fix when dealing with unwanted hair.
The hair follicle is generally pretty deep. With electronic tweezer treatments, the hair is not permanently removed because the electric current does not reach the root of the hair. Any product which claims to remove hair permanently simply by treating the problem on the surface of your skin without entering the hair follicle most likely will not be permanent and also has a great potential for damaging your skin.
Electrolysis is a different type of hair removal than the electronic tweezer methods because a needle is inserted directly into the hair follicle below the surface of the skin. It works because the electrolysis needle literally reaches “the root of the problem.” It may take a little bit longer to see results, but having electrolysis treatment is worth it because it is still, after 100 years, the only proven permanent method of hair removal!

Facial Laser Hair Removal: A Good Option?
Filed under: permanent hair removal — steve @ 3:00 pm
by: Magdalena Witkowska
What is facial laser hair removal? Unwanted facial hair can be quite irritating, especially for the ladies. Some of the more unfortunate women can have very unfeminine facial hair growth that requires them to tend the areas on a regular basis, like every two or three days. However, removing unwanted facial hair can be annoying, and in the end, time-wasting. There are several solutions to this problem, and we will examine each in turn. The first option for removing facial hair is to shave it. This is what most people do, because it is the easiest to do. Unfortunately, the effects of shaving are very temporary. Men and women who shave one day can expect some sort of hair growth the very next day. Thus, shaving can become a waste of time. The second option is to tweeze unwanted facial hair. Technically speaking, tweezing off hairs is better than shaving it - it removes a larger portion of the hair strand, which will delay future hair growth. However, tweezing is also more painful, and due to the sensitivity of facial skin, may not a good idea foe those with low pain tolerance levels. The third option is to use some sort of chemical to make hair removal easier. There are several creams and lotions in the market today that claim to fulfill this function. Using these products can make shaving or tweezing or shaving more effective, not to mention less painful. Of course, you must choose the products you will be using carefully. The fourth method is waxing. In this method, you apply hot or cold wax to the area that you want to treat. The hairs will stick to the wax, and when the wax is removed, so will the hair. The downside is that this can be very, very painful. So like tweezing, it might not a good idea for some people. The fifth and final option is facial laser hair removal. In this method, a laser is used to treat the hair follicles. The laser effectively burns and damages the hair follicles, which severely constrains their ability to grow more hair. It’s like pulling out grass by the roots. By killing off the hair follicles, facial laser hair removal makes sure that you won’t be having facial hair ever again. Despite the description, facial laser hair removal is not painful at all. Even when the laser is burning the hair follicles, all patients will feel is a slight irritation at most. Painkillers and anesthetics are not even required. In short, facial laser hair removal is an excellent long-term solution to the problem of unwanted facial hair.

Electrolysis Hair Removal Is A Permanent Solution
Filed under: permanent hair removal — steve @ 1:15 pm
by: Ann Marier
Electrolysis hair removal is becoming more and more popular. Most men have to shave daily to remove their facial hair, and many women shave their legs and underarms on a regular basis. These rituals are time consuming and tedious so most people would love to have an effective and efficient method of permanent hair removal to free up some time and energy.
Electrolysis hair removal is a method of permanent hair removal so this should be a positive development for many people. Unfortunately, the good news is balanced by some bad news so electrolysis is not the solution for all of the people that have to shave.
Electrolysis hair removal is a permanent method for removing hair, but there are some elements of electrolysis hair removal that do not make it useful to the men who shave every day or the women that shave on a regular basis. Electrolysis hair removal is most often done by a trained professional who is licensed and certified by the state government.
These professionals do charge a fee depending on the circumstances of their practice. Those working in an expensive salon or spa charge more than those in more mundane circumstances.
Electrolysis Hair Removal Is Time Consuming And Costly
Electrolysis hair removal is done with a special apparatus that has a metal probe that can conduct some electricity. This probe is inserted into the hair follicle of the unwanted hair. This should not puncture the skin so it must be inserted carefully into the hair follicle. The electricity is sent into the probe once it is correctly positioned in the hair follicle. If the procedure is done properly, the hair will be removed permanently.
There is some pain involved in the procedure, and it is definitely time consuming. The pain of electrolysis hair removal is usually not unbearable for most people. Most people must return for electrolysis until all of their unwanted hair is removed.
Electrolysis hair removal may take several treatments to remove all of the unwanted hair on an individual. Each unwanted hair must be removed individually. Often people only resort to electrolysis hair removal for the most obvious unwanted hair. Women often seek electrolysis hair removal for unwanted hairs in an obvious position on the face.
Electrolysis hair removal is approved by the health authorities of the federal government, and there are usually no serious negative side effects from this procedure. Recently, electrolysis has lost popularity because other methods have been approved for permanent hair removal.

DOES HAIR LASER OFFER PERMANENT REMOVAL?
Filed under: permanent hair removal — steve @ 12:00 pm
by: Dion Semeniuk
Chances are you have heard about hair laser being a permanent removal but is it true! The interesting thing is that laser treatments are sometimes very misunderstood. Typically, people thing this type of procedure does provide permanent results. In other words, a woman could see a board certified doctor who provides hair laser treatment thinking that after one session, the hair on her leg will never grow back. With this, there are two misconceptions. The first is that hair laser for permanent removal is a myth. Second, in the majority of cases one treatment is not adequate. With laser hair removal, what you get is permanent hair “reduction”. The problem is that data as to the duration for this reduction and the amount of hair reduction achieved is not recorded. Another challenge is that information on how often someone experiences permanent hair reduction occurs is also unknown. For hair removal to work, a laser light set at a specific wavelength is delivered into the skin. Targeting the pigmentation in hair, it causes thermal damage to the hair follicle but without damaging any of the surrounding tissue. When performed by a professional, people do see amazing results but even with this, they are not permanent. Instead, people experience long-lasting hair removal or a permanent reduction of hair growth, not actually permanent hair removal. Depending on the type of laser used, the kind of hair targeted, and the area of the body being worked on, regrowth will return but in most cases, it grows in lighter and the texture is not nearly as course. This means that hair does grow back but it takes longer and then is not as obvious as it originally was, making laser hair removal such a popular choice. Then, since hair removal can be performed on men and women and on various parts of the body, it becomes an even more attractive opportunity. When considering hair laser for permanent removal, keep in mind that people with blonde, red, and gray hair usually have poorer results over those with dark hair. In addition, individuals with dark skin need to see a professional who specializes in hair laser removal for dark skin in that the process is much more challenging. Unfortunately, the word “permanent” when associated with laser hair removal has been misused and sometimes, misrepresented. Therefore, if you see an advertisement for a clinic or spa that offers services for hair removal and permanent removal, move on. Unfortunately, some unsuspecting consumers will become drawn into words such as “100% permanent” or even “permanent”, spending good money to have a number of treatments performed, and then only to discover the hair grows back. The bottom line is these people have been duped with one simple word - permanent. Any promise of no hair regrowth is nothing more than a lie. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cracked down on certain terms. Because of this, they have established regulations by which clinics and spas must use the word “reduction” in the advertisement. Yes, as mentioned people do experience permanent reduction. In other words, if a woman had thick hair on her legs and had to shave every day, using laser removal might means the hair growing in lighter as far as color but also texture. Therefore, she might be able to shave every third day. This alone is a huge advantage and worth the investment but be careful when choosing who will perform your hair laser removal procedures.
